MEET PASTOR BARBARA MATHEWS

Pastor Barbara Mathews

Pastor Barbara Mathews, the daughter of the late Bishop Dr. Ruby E. Kile, has accepted the mantle of the Lord to shepherd the great flock here at Faith Temple Church since the passing of our beautiful founder of this ministry over 35 years ago.

She is married to the First Gentleman, John Mathews of 43 years. They have one daughter, Tracy Chapman, and 2 granddaughters, Harley and Jada. They live in the McCalla area and have been faithful members of Faith Temple Church since her mother came to Birmingham in 1972.

Pastor Barbara has taught the Juniors sunday school class for over 20 years and has been the church administrative secretary since 1989. Prior to that she was the assistant secretary. She was ordained an Elder in the Ministry in 2002. She has been assistant Choir Director of the Faith Temple Church Adult Choir since the late 80's under Elder Martha Freeman's direction.

She is Vice President of the Pastoral Committee under Elder Joyce Dew and will soon be relieved of these responsibilities. She has been the right hand of Bishop Kile since she can remember and was her main care-giver up to her transition into glory.

Pastor Barbara Mathews will see to the keeping of the laws and commandments of God and enforce the standards of Holiness that has been exemplified in our past leader. She will do all to obey the Lord and His instructions to her as she walks daily in His presence and keeping; the Lord being her helper.

Her vision for Faith Temple Church is to continue to win the lost for the Lord Jesus Christ, for the sick to be healed, for the oppressed to be set free and delivered and for the body of Christ to continue to grow in knowledge and understanding of God's Word and His precepts and principles. We must march on as a mighty army of God and win the lost at any cost and obey the Lord with all our hearts, our minds, and souls.

Jude 3b: that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
